Study Guide

Midterm

The midterm will be in class and cover material from the beginning of the semester up to, and including, the last class before it. (Grinnell students will be notified directly about exam arrangements for them.)

It will be closed books, notes, laptops and other electronic devices. However, you are allowed to bring up to 2 pages (one sheet front and back) of notes.

The exam will assume knowledge of all the required reading material listed in the Lectures section, including the posted solutions to exercises and homework assignments. Recommended readings are excluded. It is safe to assume that it will not delve into the details of the technical papers in the required readings.

The exam will contain a mix of true/false, multiple choice, short answer questions, and specification problems in Alloy and Dafny. The latter problems will focus on your general understanding of these languages and formal specification, not on your remembering the exact details of Alloy's or Dafny's syntax.


Final

The final will comprehensive and in class. (Grinnell students will be notified directly about exam arrangements for them.)
