INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ADVANCES IN NUMERICAL INTEGRATION
To be held in Room 210 at
Espace Gruyère in
Bulle (canton of Fribourg), Switzerland
Monday July 6 - Friday July 10, 2026
GENERAL INFORMATION
The main theme of the conference is numerical integration, in particular
for ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations,
differential algebraic equations, optimal control problems, and any
type of problems involving integration in one way or another.
The number of invited
speakers is limited to about 25 with everyone given at most one hour for a talk
including questions. There will be no parallel sessions.
Bulle is a city in the canton of Fribourg and is
located in the beautiful Gruyère region,
one of the most scenic and touristic part of Switzerland.
The spoken language in the region is mainly french.
There is a train station
in Bulle with connections to major cities in Switzerland:
Fribourg, Lausanne, Bern, Geneva, Basel, Zurich, etc.
There are airports in Geneva, Zurich, and Basel, these
airports are almost all equidistant from Bulle.

By default the length of talk is 60 minutes including questions.
If you wish to have a shorter presentation please let us know
how much time you need so we can optimize the schedule.
CONFERENCE FEE
The fee of 230 USD or 200 EUROS includes the conference dinner on Tuesday evening
and an excursion on Wednesday late morning and afternoon, see below.
Please make your payment before May 15 if possible.

Monique Chyba
has suggested the possibility to have
conference proceedings as a special volume in the book series
Applied Mathematics
of the
American Institute of Mathematical Sciences.
Monique is the Editor in Chief of this book series.

CONFERENCE DINNER ON TUESDAY EVENING JULY 7
The Conference dinner will be held on Tuesday July 7 at 7pm
at the restaurant
Le Gruyérien (Grand-Rue 1, Bulle).
Choose your menu (Appetizer + Main + Dessert):
- Appetizer (choose one):
- Thin/light foccacia bread and thinly sliced dried beef meat (a Swiss specialty called "viande sechée des Grisons" in french)
- Mixed salad
- Main/Entrée (choose one):

Cheese fondue half and half (a Gruyère specialty)
- Chinese fondue beef and chicken
- Vegetarian meals: choose from the
"grande carte" menu, e.g., vegetable curry ("Curry de légumes")
- Pizza: choose from the
"grande carte" menu, look for "Les Pizzas" and "Les Pizzas Spéciales"
- Beef sirloin café de Paris 230 gr. (30 USD supplement) with vegetables cooked in a wok,
look for "Notre Spécialité" in the "grande carte" menu
- Dessert (choose one) :
- Iced meringue and Gruyère double cream (a Gruyère specialty)
- Panna cotta with berries
- Fruit salad
- Drinks are included

EXCURSION ON WEDNESDAY JULY 8
An excursion from Bulle to the medieval city of Gruyères
will take place by taking the train at 11:50am from the Bulle train station to
the Gruyères train station
with a visit at noon to a Gruyère cheese factory
(check the cheese making timetable).
Then free time for lunch in Gruyères. Then after lunch a guided tour (in English) at 3:00pm to the
castle of Gruyères. See you at the gate entrance at 2:55pm.
For those who like hiking there is a bus from the Gruyères train station
to the Moléson village (11 minutes) where you can take a
funicular
to Plan-Francey which is the starting point of many trails
and of the
cable car
to the top of the Moléson mountain. Instead of taking the bus to Moléson village
Mechthild Thalhammer has offered to take 4 people in her car to go hiking.
From Espace Gruyères it is a 15 minutes walk to the Bulle train station.
On Wednesday July 8 there are trains at 10:50am, 11:20am, 11:50am, 12:20pm, 12:44pm from the Bulle train
station to the Gruyères train station (it takes 8 minutes).
FOLKLORIC MARKET ON THURSDAY JULY 9
After the two morning talks, from 11:00am to 1:00pm the folkloric market in downtown Bulle.

In the medieval city of Gruyères (near the castle)
Expect at least a 40 minutes commute time by foot and train
between the medieval city of Gruyères and
Espace Gruyère in Bulle:
First it is a 15 minutes walk from the medieval city of Gruyères to the train
station in Gruyères,
then a 7-8 minutes train ride between Gruyères and Bulle train stations,
then a 13 minutes walk from the Bulle train station to the
Espace Gruyère in Bulle.
On Monday July 6 there are trains at 07:07am, 07:32am, 07:38am, 07:58am, 08:32am from the
Gruyères train station to the Bulle train station.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION IN THE BULLE AREA
On Monday July 6 there are trains at 07:07am, 07:32am, 07:38am, 07:58am, 08:32am, etc., from the train station in Gruyères to Bulle (type the 0 in front!).
TOURISTIC INFORMATION
The Tourist Office La Gruyère Tourisme
is located in Bulle near the train station.
Take a peek at the Bulle train station and its
unusual customer service
at the ticket counter.
Wednesday afternoon July 8, Thursday late morning July 9, and Friday afternoon July 10
will be free time to enjoy some touristic activities.
There are many places to visit in the Gruyère region, to name a few
