Characteristics
- Leaves - Heart shaped with large indent at petiole; Course and fairly smooth serrations on margin.
- Leaf veins - Short stiff hairs and spidery hairs on veins only.
- Leaf petioles - Petioles roughly half the length of the leaf.
- Fruit - Non-dichotomous central branch.
- Stems - Lots of bark exfoliation
- Stems - sparse spidery hairs
Plants as seen in their local environment adjacent to Berry Creek. These plants prefer riparian (near water) areas.
Leaves - The shape of the leaves of the plant are one way to spot this genus.
Leaf Structures - The hairs on the veins on the underside of the leaf are of two types. Short stiff hairs stick straight out from the vein and spidery hairs are seen lying on the surface. This is key to identifyig this species.

Fruit Structures - The fruits are spread along a long spike. Note the very large numbers of young fruits in the cluster.
Stem Node - Note the spidery hairs on the stem.
Bark - The mature stems have exfoliating (shedding) bark.
