Characteristics
- Leaves - Heart shaped leaves, glabrous (no hairs) on upper surface with a few hairs on the veins of the underside of the leaf.
- Fruit Structures - Dichotomous branching, pores (lenticels) on fruit surface.
- Stems - White pith; No exfoliation

Stem structures - The pith in the center of this stem is white. This is characteristic of Ampelopsis (peppervine) species. Vitis centers will be brown.

Leaves - The heart shape of the leaves of the plant are one way to spot this plant.
Leaf Structures - The veins show a clear branching structure from the central and smaller veins. The petiole length is approximagely half of the length of the leaf.
