The Eleventh Annual High School
Mathematics Tournament at the
This year’s competition brought together 139
students from the following schools:
Cedar
Rapids Home Schools
Center
Point-Urbana CSD
The students participated in a total of four
"events". In two of these events (the "Sprint Round" and
the "Target Round"), students answered mathematics test questions on
individual tests. In the remaining two events (the "Team Round" and
the "Relay Round") students worked in teams. Professors Oguz Durumeric, Paul Muhly,
George Nelson, Walter Seaman, and University of Iowa student volunteers proctored
the events. While the students were writing their exams, a team of Mathematics
teachers from the participating schools graded the completed exams. We thank
the math department graduate and undergraduate students for their invaluable
assistance in helping proctor the exams and enter scores in the competition
database. We thank Joel Uden from the College of
Liberal Arts for his outstanding work in constructing the database program to
match the elaborate and multifaceted requirements of the competition.
