NEW! CONFERENCE ON: Homological Methods and Tilting Theory in Finite Dimensional Algebras, August 16-19, University of Iowa, Iowa City IA: details HERE

PUTNAM & UNDERGRADUATE MATH

Together with my colleague Ionut Chifan, we have been working with undergraduate students interested in Putnam and to pursue and learn a variety of topics in undergraduate mathematics since 2013. Our students have obtained honorable team ranks for the UIowa  team (such as 27th, 51st, 28th, 60th in various years). For students interested, please do not hesitate to contact me or Ionut at the above email. Putnam is an opportunity for students to learn many exciting topics ranging from basic algebra, combinatorics, number theory to game theory, probability, analysis, through hands-on approach direct problem solving, which usually takes place in an open type discussion with everyone pithching in ideas. We usually meet on Wednesdays at 3.30-5.20 in the Fall semester.

During 2018-2019 academic year, in paralel with Putnam sessions and complementing this I will be teaching a 1-st year Seminar "Nature, Math and People" (Fall 2018) and an undergraduate research seminar (Spring 2018), so there will be many opportunities for undergraduates - we are looking for students interested broadly in math, science, math education and/or research, so please contact me and joint these classes! Many of these will not be only about aquiring mathematical knowledge, but also a lot about expanding and pushing the boundary of our imagination!

RESEARCH

My research interests are in algebra and related fields, more specifically, I've done work and I like to learn and think about problems in: noncommutative algebra and ring theory, Hopf algebras and quantum groups, representation theory, category theory, combinatorics/discrete math, linear algebra. I also have an interest homological algebra and category theory, topology and combinatorics. Below you can find a list of my papers with preprints.

Preprints of most of these can be found also on the arxiv (possibly different versions)
