This the Macintosh distribution of XLISP-STAT Release 3. This distribution is available for anonymous ftp from ftp.stat.umn.edu in directory pub/xlispstat/. You need to obtain two self extracting archive files: the appropriate application for your system and the support files. The support files are in xlispstat-3-??-??-files.sea.hqx, where ?? corresponds to the current minor and subminor release numbers, and the applications are 'XLISP-STAT 3.??.?? PPC' in xlispstat-3-??-??-ppcapp.sea.hqx 'XLISP-STAT 3.??.?? 881' in xlispstat-3-??-??-881app.sea.hqx 'XLISP-STAT 3.??.?? 020' in xlispstat-3-??-??-020app.sea.hqx 'XLISP-STAT 3.??.?? GEN' in xlispstat-3-??-??-genapp.sea.hqx The GEN application should run on any 68K mac. The 020 application requires at least a 68020 processor but no coprocessor. The 881 application requires both a 68020 or higher processor and a coprocessor. The PPC application is a PowerPC native code implementation. All versions have been compiled with MetroWerks CodeWarrior C. Extracting the support files creates a folder. After extracting your executable, place it in this folder. Some information on the changes since Release 2 is given in the file pub/xlispstat/doc/changes.ps. You may need to adjust your partition size if you have a large color screen or are using more than 256 colors. A minimal runtime system needs the application and the initial workspace, 'xlisp.wks', and any of the files in the Autoload folder you want to use. The application, initial workspace, and Autoload folder must be placed in the same folder. You can add the 'xlisp.hlp' file if you want documentation to be available. If you want to include any of the 'Autoload' files in the startup workspace, load them into a running application and do (save-workspace "newxlisp.wks") This creates a new workspace file and exits. You can then double click on this workspace, or you can rename it 'xlisp.wks' to make it the default startup workspace (keep a copy of the original one). To load the compiler, load the file 'cmpload.fsl' in the 'Autoload' folder. The lisp sources can be compiled by loading the 'cmpsys.lsp' file in the 'Lisp Sources' folder. This will recompile any .lsp file whose corresponding .fsl file does not esist or has an earlier modification date. The file xlsx.h is a header file for use with external functions.
