I am an Associate Professor of Instruction and a Director of Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Iowa. Before comming to UI Associate Professor of Computer Science at Mount Mercy University. I hold a PhD degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Iowa State University. I am also a Program Director of ExploreU STEM summer program for middle school girls. My research interests are in the area of Cryptography and Parallel Programming. During my graduate studies I was part of the Iowa State High Performance Computing Group and worked on projects supported by the United States Department of Defense, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Cray Inc. I earned earned several grants and awards, specifically the Graduate and Professional Student Senate Peer Teaching Award, Henry Thielman Award for outstanding research by a Master of Science student, Transamerica Foundation STEM grants and the HPC Cluster and STEM Grants from Giacoletto Foundation. I am a finalist of 2015 Women of Innovation Award in Academic Innovation and Leadership category. I am an active member of Iowa Undergraduate Computer Science Consortium. I am heavily involved in STEM initiatives and am an advocate for First-Generation Students. I also organize and ran the workshops for STEM Open Mind, Open Doors Conference annually.
