Accuracy, from the legal perspective:

Legal false positives

marks that are reliably detectable or marginal but are not acceptable.

Legal false negatives

marks that are reliably ignored or marginal but are acceptable.

Miscounted votes, from a legal perspective

legal false positives plus legal false negatives!

• Unless we know the frequency of different markings, and their intent, the area of the miscounted region (shaded above) is meaningless!
