• Project proposal: webpage with abstract + picture + goals

  Due date: October 4, 2018

• Progress report: webpage with partial results

  Due date: November 6, 2018

• Final report: webpage with results

  Due date: December 4, 2018

Necessary Information:

• Project title
• Project idea.
• Data set details
  Ideally existing dataset. No data-collection projects.
• Software
  Which libraries will you use? What will you write?
• Papers to read.
  Include 1-3 relevant papers. You will probably want to read at least one of them before submitting your proposal.
• Teammate
  Will you have a teammate? Maximum team size is 3 students.
  If you work with a teammate, in the final report, we need a list of ownerships on codes, experiments, and reports.
  Each function of the code, each experimental result, each paragraph of a report can have one owner, who made most contribution on that part of the project.
• Progress Milestones
  What will you complete by the progress and final report due date?
  Experimental results of some kind are expected here.

Main categories

• Application/Survey
  Compare a bunch of existing algorithms on a new application domain of your interest
• Formulation/Development
  Formulate a new model or algorithm for a new or old problem, and comparing the new model against existing approaches.
• Theory
  Theoretically analyze an existing algorithm on a set of benchmarks.

Rules

• Should fit in Deep Learning
• Can apply Deep Leaning to your own research.
• Must be done this semester.
• OK to combine with other class-projects
• Must declare to both course instructors
• Must have explicit permission from BOTH instructors
• Must have a sufficient DL component
