This one-day workshop at CHI 2012 will be an opportunity to discuss issues and challenges related to HCI research on preventing, de-escalating and recovering from conflict. We welcome participation from those who have conducted research in this area, as well as from those with strong interests and ideas for future research including the use of technologies, methods and approaches, the role of policies and practices, and the most appropriate situations in which HCI may play a positive role.
The workshop will provide all participants an opportunity to present their work and ideas. From these presentations, participants will select emerging themes to discuss. There will also be time to plan for future collaborations, including the publication of workshop outcomes.
Position statements should be in SIGCHI Extended Abstract Format, must not exceed three pages, should be emailed as a PDF file to juanpablo-hourcade@uiowa.edu and should answer the following questions:
- Why do you want to participate?
- What can you contribute?
- What do you want to get out of the workshop?
At least one author of each accepted position statement must attend the workshop and all participants must register for the workshop and for at least one day of the conference.
