MATH:6010:0001 - Introduction to Algebra II, Spring 2019

Announcement on May 2, 2019:
There will be no lecture on Monday, May 6, but the lecture on May 2 is the last lecture of the semester. We finished the material I had in mind. Thank you all for a great semester!

Announcement after Test 1:
There will be no further written tests in MATH:6010. Here is what will happen on the dates below:

Thursday, March 28, 6:30-8:30PM, 106 GILH: Test 1.
Test 1 will consist of 4 problems, 2 on field theory and 2 on Galois theory. You will have to complete 1 of the field theory problems and 1 of the Galois theory problems.
ALLOWED TO USE during the test: ONE sheet (letter size) of paper with HANDWRITTEN notes of your choice (front and back - but it should be one sheet). This has to be handwritten and it should not have been copied smaller.

Important dates:

Office hours in the week of March 4:
Office hours will be on Tuesday (March 5) and Thursday (March 7) 1:00-2:15 PM.
After this week, office hours will go back to normal.

Week of January 28:
Note that our class times this week (Tuesday and Thursday, 3:30-4:45 PM) are not affected by the university's cancellation of classes.
I will have office hours as usual on Tuesday, January 29, 9-10:15 AM. My office hour on Thursday, January 31, falls into the cancellation period by the university. I plan to be in my office on Thursday, January 31, 12-1 PM in case any of you have questions.
